Frumoasa (Harghita)
Frumoasa (Hungarian Szépvíz or Csíkszépvíz [se ː ː pvi z] ) is a town in Harghita County, in the Transylvania region of Romania. The community lies in the Székely Land and is almost completely inhabited by Hungarian-speaking ethnic groups. It consists of four villages:
- Bârzava ( Csíkborzsova )
- Fagetel ( Bükkloka )
- Frumoasa ( Szépvíz or Csíkszépvíz )
- Nicoleşti ( Csíkszentmiklós )
History
The first written mention of the village Zepwyz took place in 1567, after 1602 it was known as Szépvíz ( "beautiful water "). It was located on the eastern border of the Kingdom of Hungary. With the Treaty of Trianon, the municipality was awarded in 1920 Romania.
