Fuchsia excorticata is a plant of the family Onagraceae ( Onagraceae ). In his home country of New Zealand this tree is known by the Maori name Kotukutuku.

Appearance

Fuchsia excorticata is a woody plant. By their nature locations it reaches a height of up to 10 meters, making it the largest species of the genus Fuchsia. Fuchsia excorticata distinguished by a characteristic light brown bark, which dissolves in long strips from the trunk. The leaves have a length of 3-7 cm and a width of up to 3 inches. Your top is dark green and the underside is silvery.

The flowers are characterized by a tube, which is only constricted and thickened. Pre- Ripening flowers have first a green, later purple color. The pollen is blue.
