Fuerteventura Airport is the airport of belonging to Spain Canary Island of Fuerteventura. It is located 5 km south of the capital Puerto del Rosario.

History

1940 began the first work to develop a military airfield in the municipality Tefía part of the defense plan of the archipelago. This airport was opened in January 1949 for the civilian national and international air transport inland and abroad. Update 2008: The main runway 01R/19L (formerly 01 /19) was extended to 1,000 meters to the south in order to reduce the noise from planes taking off in the capital, Puerto del Rosario.
