Fujigen

Fujigen K. K. (Japaneseフジゲン 株式会社, Fujigen Kabushiki - gaisha ) is a Japanese instrument manufacturer.

The best-known brands, which are manufactured here are Ibanez and Fender.

History

The company in May 1960 by Yuichiro Yokouchi (横 内 佑 一郎, Yokouchi Yuichiro ) and his friend Yutaka Mimura was founded (三 村 豊, Yutaka Mimura ) in a cow shed in Matsumoto in the Japanese prefecture of Nagano. First violins were made ​​, and soon after was converted to classical guitars. The share capital of the company amounted to 1,000,000 yen. Already in the following year a new factory was built and started the production of classical guitars in the upper price segment. The company was then called Fuji Gengakki K. K. (富士 弦 楽 器 制造 株式会社, dt " Fuji Stringed Instruments ").

From October 1962 used electric guitars were manufactured from 1972 also for the brands Ibanez, Greco and Yamaha. As a joint venture with a guitar synthesizer Roland was developed in 1977. In 1981, the production of acoustic guitars was discontinued.

Since April 1982, it was also produced for the brands Fender and Squier.

In April 1989, we took a shortcut and used the company name, as in other Japanese companies like Yamaha or Honda katakana spelling theフジゲンinstead of Kanji富士 弦.
