Fulham Broadway tube station

Fulham Broadway is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 2 on the same road and is served by the District Line. In 2011, 9.56 million passengers used the station. About 200 meters further east is Stamford Bridge, the stadium of football club Chelsea.

History

Was opened the station on March 1, 1880, the Metropolitan District Railway (predecessor company of the District Line ). They first had the name Walham Green. The electric subway operation began on 23 July 1905. Got its name the station on March 2, 1952. In 2003, a shopping center was built around the station and there was a new, direct and wheelchair accessible access to the stadium.

Due to the crowds that attracted the new football stadium, the station building was built in 1905 replaced by a new building by architect Harry W. Ford. It is since 1985 listed building (Grade II).

The actress Briony McRoberts came here on June 17, 2013 died after she was hit by a train.
