Full frame

The full pic comes from working with 35mm film pioneers William KL Dickson, Birt Acres and Lumiere. It was the first international congress of film makers in Paris in 1909 set at the size of 18 to 24 mm, of which the cut from 17.7 to 23.6 mm should come to represent. At that time, they agreed on the movie step of 19 mm instead of 19.05 ( ¾ " ), which has a height of 1.2 mm was created between the phase images, which is sufficient for the production of durable splicing.

The frame came in the experiments to CinemaScope to honor again. Another return to the full screen came up with the so-called Super -35. It is the basis of all cinematographic works with normal film because it represents the largest exploitable surface during normal movie step which, in the one-volume can be mounted, that is, the individual sections of string together in one volume. Thanks to the symmetry you can take the full screen to perform some tricks over the normal image, for example reverse rotation with head stationary camera.

Colloquially, the term is often used full screen regardless of the aspect ratio in combination with an output device, in which the image area completely filled, so no black bars ( letterbox) is.
