Fulpmes is a municipality in the district Innsbruck, Tirol, Austria, and the center of the iron industry in the Stubai Valley.

Geography

The territory of Fulpmes comprises 16 square kilometers. It extends across the valley from the top of the Serles in the south to the north-west on the ridge that separates the Telfer silt from the Stubai main valley.

Fulpmes is traversed by two streams, the Ruetz and the Schlick Erbach.

The community consists of only one cadastral municipality and a Zählsprengel, Fulpmes.

To Medraz includes the Rotten Gröbenhof Omesberg, Vergör and the settlement Medrazer silence.

Dialect

The fulpmer dialect is similar in Neustift in the Stubai Valley. However, in Fulpmes the "r" is much more pronounced (similar to the American "r").

History

Oldest settlement traces can be found from the period around 100 BC on the wooded hillside High Birga.

The name was first mentioned in 1286 as Vultmeis documentary, which reflects the importance of wolves '. Later, it was also known as Wultmeins and Vulpes.

Street names, partially preserved tunnels and tools found therein testify to centuries of mining, metallurgical and ironworking tradition in the town. From the 14th to the 16th century was mined in the mud for iron (the first mention of a hammer on silt Erbach 1352), the sun stone for gold and silver.

In addition to earlier local hardware industry, the iron peddlers trading was maintained. As in the 16th century, the deposits were exhausted, it moves to forge trade. This remained until Fulpmes in the 19th century industrial town. In the 18th century there arose trading companies that exported to Russia and England. The Stubai tool industry with its well-known brand Stubai has its headquarters today in Fulpmes. There is here since August 22, 1897 a corresponding school ( Higher Technical and Vocational College since 1969 Fulpmes ), which could maintain and enhance the high quality standards. The close connection with the iron industry is also evident in the local coat of arms depicting an anvil against the background of the Tyrolean colors white-red. In the early years of the 20th century in Fulpmes of the Catholic Workers' Association was active.

In terms of tourism the town is known as the Schlick is accessed from here.

Since the year 1904, the place by an electric local train ( Stubaitalbahn ) is connected to Innsbruck.

Distribution of seats since the municipal elections of March 14, 2010

In the following short list of the mayor on 28 March 2010, the long- time mayor Ludwig Schmidt by Robert Denifl ( 63.36 % of the votes) was replaced, which had held the office of mayor before Schmidt 1976-1986. Both Mayor stood as candidates on lists of names of the ÖVP.

Party politics

The political landscape in Fulpmes is dominated by the tourism and industrial development. While the industry (eg with their brand Stubai ) for centuries played a dominant role in Fulpmes, took the tourism in the 1960s to its rapid development. Today Fulpmes has about 300,000 overnight stays per year. Thus, policy makers concerned reinforced with tourist infrastructure. But the hardware industry has an impact on the political landscape, especially since in the 1960s and 1970s, the Chamber of Commerce had begun systematically to recruit mainly Turkish guest workers / inside. In the 1990s it came through the Balkan war in addition to an influx of Bosnian refugees in particular. Of the 4000 inhabitants of Fulpmes not have about 700 Austrian citizenship, but there were naturalized in the last decades of the 500 foreigners. Fulpmes, due to its large Muslim minority not only on Christian churches, but for more than a decade and a mosque. In the Council elections of 2004, all parties have expressed support, with the exception of the FPÖ decided to extend this mosque.

Over the past 50 years, the ÖVP in Fulpmes always played the dominant role, the SPÖ could rarely come close to the 20 percent mark. In the 1990s there was a sharp rise of the Freedom Party, but with the elections after the year 2000, the FPÖ steadily losing votes. The Greens are again represented in the council since the municipal elections of 2010.

Regional Policy

The municipality belongs to the Stubaital Tyrol Planning Association and the tourism region Stubai Tirol. Seat of the Municipality Planning Association 's bodice, chairman of the Mayor ibid., Manfred Leitgeb. Seat of the Tourist Board is in the Stubai in Neustift house.

The municipality is a member of the Climate Alliance Tyrol since 2010.

Center of the municipality is the village of Fulpmes, which also forms one of the two villages in the municipality. It is located approximately 13 ½ miles south of the city center of Innsbruck. It is located on the 937 m above sea level. A. Height nestling in the middle Stubai Valley on the sunny side of the left Ruetz.

The village comprises over 600 buildings with about 2800 inhabitants, which is about 2/3 of the total population. The old village center is statistically recorded as Fulpmes village, the settlement around it, which has since grown into the place and about half of the village population comprises, as Fulpmes environment. At the village (but not the Zählsprengel ) also include the Panorama Restaurant Kreuzjoch and Galtalm, the only alpine meadow in the municipal area.

Economy and infrastructure

The station is the terminus of Fulpmes Stubaital tram. The Shoo building 23140! Stands under monument protection. Also, here is the carriage house Fulpmes. The place is connected to Innsbruck by car bus Stubai ( line ST of the ivb ).

By car Fulpmes Stubaital is accessible via the road ( B183 ), here also operates a railway bus line. The road coming from the Brenner motorway (A12 ) in Schoenberg bodice, and leads to Neustift on. After Telfes performs a municipal road.
