Fumie Suguri

Fumie Suguri (Japanese村 主 章 枝, Fumie Suguri, born December 31, 1980 in Chiba, Chiba Prefecture) is a Japanese figure skater who starts in a single run.

Suguri began at the age of five years in Anchorage with the ice skating. Her father, a pilot, worked in Alaska. When she returned to Japan, she was six years old. Her mother took her immediately to an ice skating school. Fumies sister Chika is also a figure skater.

Suguri was in the years 1997, 2001-2003 and 2006 Japanese champion. In 2004 she won in Colorado Springs as the first Japanese Grand Prix Final. The Four Continents Championship could decide Suguri, 2001 in Salt Lake City as the first Japanese woman for themselves. She won the competition again in 2003 and 2005. With three victories, it is record winner at the Four Continents Championships.

At World Championships Suguri reached the podium three times. In 2002 and 2003 she won the bronze medal and in 2006 she was in Calgary vice-world champion Kimmie Meissner behind. She participated in two Olympic Games. 2002 Salt Lake City she finished fifth in Turin in 2006 and she was fourth.
