Fun Lovin' Criminals

The Fun Lovin 'Criminals (or short: FLC ) are an alternative rock band from New York City. Their music is a mixture of many styles of music like hip hop, rock, blues and jazz. Their songs often deal with everyday life in mega cities like New York, which is marked by violence, crime, drugs and poverty. Occasionally, they engage in their songs also existential questions.

Band History

The band was founded by Hugh Morgan, Brian Leiser and the former drummer Steve Borovini 1993. Known worldwide, the band in 1996 with their hit Scooby Snacks with Tonausschnitten from films by Quentin Tarantino. Come Find Yourself, the first album of the band, was released in 1996 and contained the hit single Scooby snacks. The 1998 released second album 100 % Colombian contained slightly less rock elements. Singles were Love Unlimited, a tribute to Barry White, and Big Night Out. The 1999 album Mimosa contained almost only cover versions and other versions of previously released tracks. With its publications, the Fun Lovin 'Criminals gained in their hometown and beyond cult status. Also in Europe, especially in the British Isles, they won a large following after the release of their first two albums.

1999 Borovini left the band after he " had become a little bit crazy and then emigrated to Peru ," in the words of Huey. Later Borovini again had success with Needledrop and CC JONES. He was replaced by Maxwell Jayson, who was in turn replaced in 2003 by Frank from Leicester, England, who had until then worked for the band as Jaysons technician. It was not until the 2001 album Loco with the eponymous hit single again contained a new song material with a more relaxed sound. Their next album, Welcome to Poppy's was released in 2003 and had more upbeat and rock influences. The album Livin ' In The City was released in 2005 and contained the single Mi Corazon.

In subsequent years, the three musicians were involved in a bitter dispute with their first manager, they had released in 2003. They all left New York and moved to England. In her London studio, the band together with Grammy winner Tim Latham produced a new album. In addition moderated Huey briefs on MTV and The Huey Show on BBC6 Radio. In March 2010, the new album was released, entitled Classic Fantastic. 2011 brought the band Fun, Live and Criminal their first live album out.
