Functional imaging

Under Functional imaging refers to imaging techniques in medicine, which can measure quantities such as metabolic activity or blood flow. In contrast to the anatomical ( morphological ) imaging, functional imaging attempts to determine the physiological activity of certain organs or tissue layers.

The following imaging techniques are used for functional imaging:

  • Magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI ), in particular functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI ) and Magnetresonanzperfusionsbildgebung
  • CT perfusion imaging
  • Positron emission tomography (PET)
  • Single photon emission computed tomography ( SPECT)
  • Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI)
  • Imaging method (medicine)
