Funeral march
Funeral marches traditionally played frequently at the secular part of mourning occasions, especially funerals. Also, in some politically motivated protest demonstrations, accompanying ( with vorangetragenem coffin ), funeral marches used to a symbolic funeral.
They are usually kept in a minor key, with a slow tempo and rhythm uniform ( the march character under -dash fully -voiced chords ), a funeral procession in imitation. The funeral marches can be divided in compositions
- Without special outer mourning occasion (Mozart, Liszt )
- For the funeral of a usually high-ranking personality ( Purcell, Cherubini, Söderman )
- In memory of a friend or colleague after the funeral ( Grieg )
- In connection with an opera plot for the deceased heroes ( Donizetti, Wagner),
- As immaterial character of expression in the conception of sonata or symphony ( Beethoven, Chopin, Mahler ).
Well-known funeral marches
- So-called Little Funeral March in C minor (K. 453 ) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - little piano piece that Mozart 1784 his composition pupil Barbara Ployer wrote in the album. The original title is " Marche funebre, Maestro del Signed Contrapuncto ".
