Funk Metal

Funk Metal or Metal Funky is an early form of the crossover.

This term describes a fusion of Rifftechnik of heavy metal and hardcore punk with the rhythm of the radio, since the 1990s, with a tendency to hip-hop. A similar style of play already practiced in the 1970s Funkadelic Maggot Brain on the album (1971) and Mother's Finest Another Mother Further on the album (1977).

There was also in the New Wave and post-punk also numerous bands, rock music associated with radio. Around 1990 attended formations such as Living Colour and Faith No More for a general acceptance that direction. They were put out by the macho clichés inherent in the heavy metal, and met with a lot of the humor, which caused many metal adherents of confusion and anger.

After the repertoire of various genres had expanded, the phenomenon called preferably crossover. The distinction between radio rock and funk metal lies above all in the sound. Funk Metal is harder than rock radio, where the borders are partially blurred.

Many of these bands were numerous nu-metal formations as a role model.
