The prince stone is a rock summit (675 m above sea level. NN ) on the northern slope of the gold mountain in the Fichtelgebirge. It consists of Gneisphyllit with Einsprengung of black slate and was recognized because of its geological features as a natural monument.

The rock summit had formerly a much larger scale. Mid-19th century there were stones broken for the mining office building, which was moved in 1856 from Wunsiedel to fire wood. Now he is still 30 meters wide, 30 meters long and 15 meters high.

The Prince's Stone is located in the montane historically significant area of ​​the former fire wood gold Kronacher gold mining area. The gold -antimony mineralization was the basis for a nearly 600 -year mining. This was the viscount of Nuremberg and the Margrave of the Principality of Bayreuth ( 1365-1791 ), in the Prussian era ( 1791-1806 ), in the Bavarian period ( 1828-1865 ) and operated by the Fichtel Gold AG (1920 to 1925).
