Fustat

Al- Fustat (Arabic الفسطاط, DMG al - Fustat, the tent ', now Old Cairo ) is a district of Cairo on the Nile in Egypt. The name is probably the Arabized form of the Greek Fossãton.

Al- Fustat was founded in 643 as the first settlement of the Arab- Muslim dominated Egypt. Until the founding of Cairo ( 969 ) by the Fatimids, it was the administrative center of the country. The mosque ʿ Amr ibn al - ʿ AS of the Arab commander and governor ʿ Amr ibn al - ʿ AS is obtained, but not in its original condition. According to local reports, the grave of his son, ʿ Abd Allāh be located in this mosque.
