Fyrk

Fyrk (probably to low German Vierken - due Fourth elk ) was a Swedish coin worth a quarter Öre.

The coin was minted from 1575 in Silver. My weight was approximately 1 g and the silver content was about 10%. From 1624 it was pronounced as a copper coin, in the first two years as a cliff. The weight of the copper coins was initially 7.1 g, from 1633 and to 1660, the last year of minting, 10.6 g mints were Sater, Nyköping and Arboga.

The name of the coin was still in use in Swedish after shutting Course Set the coin as concept for low-value coins, comparable to the German Heller or penny. Fyrk coins were minted in the 18th century in Denmark and Pomerania.
