G. E. Kidder Smith

George Everard Kidder Smith ( * 1913 in Birmingham ( Alabama), † 1997) was an American architecture critic and photographer.

Biography

Smith studied architecture at Princeton University, where he also completed the study in 1938 entitled MFA.

He served during WWII in the U.S. Navy, where he held special photographic tasks.

Smith has written some books that he illustrated with photographs. His first book was published in 1943 Brazil builds ( Brazil builds ) in which he examined in Zusammenharbeit with the Museum of Modern Art with the South American modernism.

The book builds Brazil followed titles such as Switzerland builds ( Switzerland is increasing ), Sweden builds ( builds Sweden ), Italy builds ( builds Italy ) and his most important work, Source Book of American Architecture (Source book of American architecture ).
