G. W. Bailey

George William Bailey ( born August 27, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas ) is an American actor.

He is best known for his roles as Staff Sergeant Luther Rizzo in the television series M * A * S * H (1972-1983) and as Captain Thaddeus Harris in the film series Police Academy (1984). From 2005 to 2012, he starred in the series The Closer of the U.S. TV channel TNT, since 2012, he embodies the same role in the spin-off Major Crimes.

Biography

Bailey went along with Janis Joplin at the Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur. Then he began to Lamar University in Beaumont (Texas ) to study, but moved to the Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He left college mid-1960s and worked at local theaters, before it went in the 1970s to California to some minor roles in television series this time - to play - like Starsky & Hutch and Charlie's Angels.

His film debut was in A Force of One (1979 ), a Chuck Norris movie. Then he got the role as Rizzo in the television series M * A * S * H.

In the 1980s and 1990s, he played with Steve Guttenberg in Police Academy movies five times the "bad " cops Thaddeus Harris, so he had quite a big reputation also in the generation that * H grew up to M * A * S.

In 1993 he returned to the return to college and attended Texas State University San Marcos in San Marcos and graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Theatre. For the school year 1999/2000 he had the title of Artist-in -Residence.

On April 2, 1966, he married Eleanor June Goosby. From the meantime divorced two children were born.

Since 2001, Bailey Director of the Sunshine Kids Foundation, which organizes trips and other recreational activities for children with cancer regularly. He is involved now for over 15 years for this organization since he was taken from his goddaughter, who suffers from leukemia, to them carefully.
