G. Wood

George Wood (better known as G. Wood, born December 31, 1919 in Forrest City, Arkansas; † July 24, 2000 in Macon, Georgia), was an American actor.

Wood studied at the Yale School of Drama, had graduated interrupt but because of the Second World War and wrote, produced and played army performances in London. He finished his education then at Carnegie Mellon University.

It initially worked mainly in cabaret and musical pocket and wrote, among other things, the musical " The King and the Duke ," " F. Jasmine Addams "and" Scarecrow Richard " before he was a character actor. At various stages he played great theater classics, such as the title role in Shakespeare's Julius Cesar in Balboa Park and also at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.

As a film actor he was in the films of Robert Altman front of the camera. In 1970 he played in the movie " MASH " Brigadier General Charlie Hammond, a part he took over later also in some episodes of the TV series. This Wood was next to Timothy Brown and Gary Burghoff, the only performer who both Altman's and in the series had a role.

George Wood died in 2000 of heart failure.
