G.D. Fabril

The Grupo Desportivo Fabril do Barreiro is on 27 January was established in 1937 sports club from Barreiro, a nearly 80,000 inhabitants town on the Setúbal peninsula south of the Portuguese capital Lisbon. After the club Grupo Desportivo da Quimigal briefly named, it took its present name in 2000. Grupo Desportivo da Companhia União as Fabril de Barreiro, better known simply as CUF Barreiro played the football team of the club 1954-1976 22 seasons in the first division of Portugal.

The club was founded as in 1937 as Sports Association of going back to the year 1865 Companhia União Fabril chemical factory. The first big successes recorded the association, as in 1939, the cyclist Joaquim Fernandes, the Volta a Portugal, Portugal tour won.

The football team that participated in the national game operation since 1941, rose in 1954 in the first division. Greatest success was the third place in 1965, the authorized to participate in the Fairs Cup 1965/66. There, the enemy was in the first round of AC Milan from Italy.
