G3 (tour)
The concert series G3 followed by an idea of the rock guitarist Joe Satriani the concept: three guitarists play their own songs and then three cover songs together. So far, one of the cover songs was a song by Jimi Hendrix, for example, Foxy Lady, Red House or Voodoo Child ( Slight Return ), respectively.
1996
In October 1996, toured with Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson ( plus Kenny Wayne Shepherd at the first shows) by the United States. Each of the three guitarists performed with renowned musicians accompanying. Steve Vai was by Mike Keneally ( guitar, sitar, keyboards, percussion), Philip Bynoe (bass) and Mike Mangini (drums) accompanied, Eric Johnson by Stephen Barber ( keyboards), Roscoe Beck ( bass) and Brannen Temple ( drums) and Satriani himself by Stuart Hamm ( bass) and Jeff Campitelli (drums).

1997
This year, the tour was extended to Europe. While Joe Satriani in Europe touring with Steve Vai and Adrian Legg were in North America, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Robert Fripp in the company.
Steve Vai played with the same musicians as in 1996. Kenny Wayne Shepherd was the only of the three Noah Hunt on vocals accompanied by further Jimmy Wallace (keyboards), Joe Nadeau (guitar), Sam Bryant (drums) and Robby Emerson ( bass ).

In 1997 played the first shows in Quebec Michel Cusson as a guest musician instead of Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
1998
The '98 tour was held with Satriani, Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth only in Europe. Special guests this time were Brian May in London and Patrick Rondat in France. At the concert in Hamburg played Satriani, Vai, and Adrian Legg, who did not participate in the final jam.
Michael Schenker's band mates were Seth Bernstein (guitar and keyboards), Shane Gaalaas (drums), Jeff Kollman (bass ) and David Van Landing and Gary Barden (Vocals ).
With Uli Jon Roth played Liz Vandall (vocals), Clive Bunker (drums), Don Airey ( keyboards) and Francois Garny ( bass).
2000
The original lineup from 1996 again joined together for a special show on October 21 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as part of the Rhythm of Asia Festival.
2001
In 2001, the G3 from Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and John Petrucci sat down together.
Steve Vai's band were Billy Sheehan ( bass), Virgil Donati (drums), Mike Keneally (keyboards and guitar ), Dave Weiner ( guitar).
John Petrucci's band consisted of Mike Portnoy (drums) and Dave LaRue ( bass).
Special guests for this tour were:

2003
In 2003, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen were the headliners in October and November in the U.S..

2004
This year, a tour of Europe took place again in June and July. In November and December found with the same cast some shows in South America with the following line-up was: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Robert Fripp.
2005
Joe Satriani played with Steve Vai and John Petrucci in May 2005, some shows in Japan. Of these concerts is also a recording on CD and DVD available.

2012 to play on the European tour with the Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse (eg, on 23 July 2012 in Munich ) Satriani and Steve Vai. On July 21, 2012, she made guest appearances in the Offenbach Stadthalle. This was, according to Joe Satriani the second concert in Germany on this tour.
