Gabersdorf is a municipality with 1130 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the judicial district or the district of Leibnitz in Styria.

Geography

The territory of Gabersdorf is located east of Leibnitz between the foothills of Eastern Styria's hill country and the Mur in Leibnitz district in the Austrian state of Styria.

The municipality comprises the following four localities ( in parentheses population as of 31 October 2011):

  • Gabersdorf (355)
  • Landscaper an der Mur (293 )
  • Neudorf an der Mur (332 )
  • Sajach (120 )

Katastralgemeinden are (area 2001): Gabersdorf ( 579.63 ha), Landscaper ( 330.07 ha), Neudorf an der Mur ( 1070.88 ha).

History

The village was first mentioned in 1294 as Gebrechtsdorf documented. The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria. By municipality amalgamation in 1962 of the municipalities Gabersdorf, Neudorf / Mur and Landscaper / Mur the greater community Gabersdorf.

Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms was made on June 10, 1952 with effect from 1 August 1952. Coat Description: "A split of silver and black shield. Appear in the right box is placed over another three black balls. The left half shields is traversed in the middle by a narrow, silver chevrons. "

Culture and sights

  • Sanctuary Gabersdorf: A baroque church, which built about 1690 and 1718 was dedicated to St. Leonhard. In the years 1787, 1894, 1908, 1928, 1950 and 1994 the church was renovated.
