Geography

Gablingen is located about 10 kilometers north- west of Augsburg on the edge of the Natural Park Augsburg - Western forests. On the eastern outskirts of the village the Schmutter flows. On the eastern edge of the municipality is the military airfield Gersthofen Gablingen on which the monitoring system is Gablingen.

The municipality Gablingen include not only Gablingen even the districts Gablingen settlement, Holzhausen, Lützelburg and Muttershofen.

History

The vicarage Gablingen was first mentioned in 1144. From 1527 to 1806 the church was in possession of the Fugger family, then the place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. 1944 was located here, a subcamp of the Dachau concentration camp.

Incorporations

The coat of arms description reads: Split of blue and gold; forward on a green, with silver cross flow occupied Dreienberg a silver lock with high gables and a covered red tower, behind a blue lily.

Traffic

Gablingen has a station on the railway line between Nuremberg and Augsburg.

Culture and sights

In Gablingen there is an Archaeological Museum, which houses finds from the area. It will be exhibited from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages objects. In addition, provide information on the development of medieval castles in the Augsburg district.

Monuments
