Gabriel Gruber

Gabriel Gruber ( born May 6, 1740 in Vienna,. . † 26 Märzjul / April 7 1805greg in Saint Petersburg ) was Superior General of the Jesuits in Russia.

Life

Gabriel Gruber joined the Society of Jesus in 1755. From 1772 to 1786 he taught mechanics and hydraulics in Ljubljana. From 1786 he taught at the institution of higher learning of the Jesuits in Polotsk. When the Order General Kareu Franciscus died on July 30, 1802 Gruber, the General Assembly on 10 October of the same year as its new General.

Gabriel Gruber died 1805 in Saint Petersburg.

Appreciation

According to him, the Gruber channel ( Gruberjev Prekop ) is named in Ljubljana.
