Gabriel Matei

Gabriel Eugen Matei (born 26 February 1990 in Curtea de Arges ) is a Romanian football player. He's since the summer of 2011 at Steaua Bucharest in the league 1 under contract.

Career

Matei began at the age of ten years playing football at International Piteşti. After he had gone through all the youth teams, he moved in 2008 to the squad for the first team, which had moved in the same year in his home town of Curtea de Arges. With his team he finished the 2008/09 season in second place behind Unirea Alba Iulia and rose to the League 1. He reached in the season 2009/10, although the sporty relegation, but was relegated due to a license withdrawal. He left why, internationally and to league rivals Pandurii Târgu Jiu. A year later he joined the record champions Steaua Bucharest. There he missed due to injury almost the entire first half of the season 2011/12. Also in the season 2012/13 he came only on a bet and had therefore only a small share of the profits of his first championship.
