Gabriela Lesch

Gabriela Lesch ( complete: Catherine Gabriela " Gabi " Lesch, after marriage Lesch- Sewing, born August 17, 1964 in Sulzbach ) is a former German middle distance runner, who specialized in the 800 -meter distance.

For the Federal Republic of starting she won at the 1988 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Budapest bronze and peaked at the 1988 Olympics the semifinals. In 1989, she was fifth respectively at the European Indoor Championships in The Hague and at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest. At the European Athletics Championships in 1990 in Split she was disqualified in the semifinals. In 1991 she won silver at the Universiade, and in 1992 she finished fifth at the IAAF World Cup.

From 1988 to 1990, she was three times in a row, German champion. In the hall she was champion in 1989 and 1988 and 1990 runner-up.

Gabriela Lesch launched until 1987 for TSV Kirchhain and thereafter for Eintracht Frankfurt. In 1991 and 1992 she was active spokesperson in the DLV and practiced due to experience in this office 1993 criticism of the work-up of the problem of doping in the association. She is married to Dirk Sewing and now lives as a housewife and mother of two daughters in the church grove.
