Gabriele Oriali

Gabriele Oriali ( born November 25, 1952 in Como, Italy ) is a retired Italian professional football player.

As a club player played " lung " for 13 years for Inter Milan and won with the national team in 1982 world title.

Club career

The boy from Como came with 14 years in the youth department of Inter Milan, which was regarded as one of the best European club teams. 1970 Oriali moved on into the first team, where he played in midfield with the likes of Sandro Mazzola and Luis Suárez. He was already in his first season champion, but completed only two games.

He then became the key players of the " Nerazzurri ". Oriali was versatile: mostly as a defensive midfielder playing, but he helped sometimes even as a man-marker, or even from Libero. He soon became one of the top performers at Internazionale, even if he was not the dazzling star or flashy technician. Oriali lived duel strength and his commitment. One of his strengths was counting his ability to destroy the opponent's and indemnify his back to the playmaker. In 1980, after nine years Oriali finally celebrate a Scudetto.

After 13 years in blue - black jersey Oriali Milan turned his back and still played four years for Fiorentina, where he in 1987 at age 34 ended his career.

Career in the National Team

After the 1978 World Cup Oriali moved up in the national team and made his debut on 21 December 1978 at the friendly against Spain ( 1-0). After his second Scudetto National trainer Enzo Bearzot appointed him to the squad for EURO 1980.

Two years later he was part of the squad for the 1982 World Cup in Spain. After two weak games in the preliminary round Oriali played with the third match against Cameroon in the root formation, in which he remained until the final. Italy defeated Germany 3-1 and was the third time world champion. His last game for the Azzurri, he played on 29 May in 1983 at a Sweden in Gothenburg ( 0-2).

Subsequent career

From 1999 to 2010 Gabriele Oriali board member at Inter Milan and as sports director for the transfers of the association was responsible.
