Gaetana Sterni
Gaetana ( Cajetana ) Sterni ( born June 26, 1827 in Cassola (Italy ); † November 26, 1889 in Bassano del Grappa ) was an Italian nun and foundress. She was beatified by the Roman Catholic Church.
Life
Gaetana Sterni was born on 26 June 1827 as one of six children. Her father was Giovanni Battista Sterni administrative officer in an authority and lived with his wife Giovanna Chiuppani in good circumstances. 1835 the family moved to Bassano del Grappa. Here were a few fatalities, after a short illness her father died, and her sister Margherita at the age of only 18 years. For the financial security of the family now her young brother Francesco had to make.
Her mother had brought up in the faith, it was appreciated and respected in their surroundings. At age 16, she met an entrepreneur; the widower had three children from his first marriage. After careful consideration Gaetana married the noble businessman. The couple lived in contentment and harmony, Gaetana furnished and loved the children as if they were their own. As Gaetana expecting their first child, her husband became ill and died before the birth of the child. Also dasKind died a few days after birth. The family of her late husband made with rumors and suspicions of a troubled relationship. Eventually the family members, Gaetana be dismissed out of the house and to separate them from their stepchildren. At age 19, she returned to Bassano.
1847, at the age of 20, she felt the desire for a religious life. She stepped into at the Canossians in Bassano del Grappa into a postulate. As her mother became seriously ill, she left after just five months back, the monastery and took over the care of their mother, but died a short time later. Now Gaetana had to care for their younger siblings. At the age of 26 years she appeared in Bassano a foster home in a home for beggars and homeless people, and later took over the home line. During this time, she led a life according to the evangelical counsels.
Founding of the order
In the homeless shelter Gaetana began in 1853 with the construction of a congregation that initially the name "Daughters of the Divine Will " was wearing. Along with two sisters she laid in 1860 from the religious vows. Later called the Congregation with papal approval Sisters of the Divine Will. Madre (Mother ) Gaetana exercised their ministry over 36 years.
Beatification
Gaetana mother died on November 26, 1889, their final resting place she found in the mother's house in Bassano del Grappa. She was together with Giovanni Antonio Farina, who was their diocesan bishop beatified. Your Memorial Day in the liturgy is November 26th. On the day of the beatification of Pope John Paul II led:
" The Blessed Gaetana Sterni dedicated to the marginalized and suffering with untiring love, for she had recognized that the will of God is always love. Her brothers and sisters they always treated with the care and affection of all those who serve in their ministry to the poor the Lord Himself. On the same ideal admonished her spiritual daughters, the " Sisters of Divine volontà "; she asked in the rules written by her on this, "to be willing and happy to take privations, toils and any sacrifice, just to help the needy neighbor in all that could require the master of them ." The witness of charity in the spirit of the Gospel, the Blessed Gaetana Sterni has given, encourages every believer to to seek the will of God in a trusting surrender to Him and in generous service to the brethren. "
