GAF Nomad

The GAF N -22B Nomad is a produced by the Australian Government Aircraft Factories, twin-engined machine as a high-wing monoplane and first flew on 23 July 1971.

History

Originally, the GAF N -22B Nomad had been designed for the Australian Army as a small support van, but was also used for the civilian market. It possesses STOL characteristics for short Lande-/Startbahnen. Fully loaded, it needs to start 515 meters for landings around 430 meters. A large, double -wing cargo door on the left is used for loading and unloading or boarding and disembarking of passengers.

The production was set in 1988 by 314 copies in different outfits.

The Australian aircraft manufacturer GippsAero, a subsidiary of Mahindra Aerospace of India, is planning to resume production under the symbol GA18. GippsAero acquired the rights to the Nomad in 2008 by Boeing Australia. The GA18 is improved in many details airplane. The main focus was on improving the efficiency and safety, and a modern avionics. The first plane is to be paid by the client in 2015 according to the manufacturer.

Construction

The hull is constructed of all-metal construction. It has a rectangular cross section. The rear part of the fuselage may be foldable to facilitate charging in accordance with the page. The hull has on the left a large door.

The aircraft is a strutted high-wing monoplane. The wings are made of all-metal construction. To stub wings are located on the fuselage lower edge for receiving the main landing gear. The stub wings are reinforced with the wings. The wings have electrically operated double slotted flaps and pneumatic de-icing.

The tail is carried in normal construction. The undamped tailplane is moved slightly upwards. All control surfaces have trim tabs. The icing is carried out pneumatically. The operation of the rudder via a dual controller.

The aircraft has a retractable tricycle landing gear. The nose wheel retracts forward. The double ringed main wheels are in gear nacelles on wing roots.
