Gagarin (crater)

267.32

Gagarin is a large impact crater in the southern hemisphere of the moon back. It is located between the craters Pavlov in the southwest and Keeler in the Northeast. Closer to its edge in the southwest of the crater Levi -Civita and north-northeast of the crater Beijerinck. Entirely within the boundaries of the crater Gagarin are Isaev, Raspletin, Andronov, and Grave, which are all named after Russian air and space pioneers.

The crater has a long history of impacts and is highly eroded accordingly. His worn edge forms a low, rounded ridge to the slightly bowl-shaped interior. The crater floor is littered with a variety of impacts of various sizes. From a possibly existing central ridge no more tracks can be seen.
