Gagliano del Capo

Gagliano del Capo is a Southeast Italian commune ( comune ) with 5327 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Lecce in Puglia. The municipality is situated approximately 59.5 kilometers south-southeast of Lecce in southern Salento. Gagliano del Capo is a municipality directly on the Adriatic Sea and is part of the Parco naturale regional Costa Otranto - Santa Maria di Leuca e Bosco di Tricase.

History

In the district Arigliano is an old menhir. The district of San Dana houses ruins of a crypt dating from the 6th century.

Sight

Like a Canyon water cuts through the rocks of Gagliano del Capo. On the rocks is partly the maquis.

Traffic

In the village there is the terminus of the route of Novoli. Passing through the municipality, the Strada Statale 275 di Santa Maria Leuca.
