Gainsborough Trinity F.C.

Gainsborough Trinity ( officially: Gainsborough Trinity Football Club ) - also known as The Recreationists - is an English football club based in Gainsborough, East Midlands, since 2004 in the Conference North, the sixth- highest division in England, plays. The venue of the association is the 4,304 -seat end The Northolme.

Club history

The club was founded in 1873 in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire as Trinity Recreationalists. The club played from 1889 to 1896 in the Midland League and was subsequently included in the Football League Second Division, the then second division in English football. The club played from 1896 to 1912 continuously in the professional leagues, since Gainsborough plays football in the plane of the Non -League. The club won in 1928, 1949 and 1967, the Championship of the Midland League. As one of the founding members of the Northern Premier League, which was the fifth English top flight, the club played continuously until 2004 in the same league. Gainsborough could not have there significant results and was eliminated in the cup competitions from each early. Current coach of the team is Brian Little, who played during his active career ten years for Aston Villa. Since 2004, the club plays in the Conference North, in the last five seasons, the team reached one placement between the 11th and 18th.
