Gaishorn am See is a municipality with 998 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the judicial district or Liezen in Upper Styria. From 1 January 2015 it has joined forces framework of the Styrian municipality structural reform with the market town of Treglwang, the new church is " the lake Gaishorn " carry on the name.

Geography

Gaishorn located in Paltental, framed by the Ennstaler Alps in the north, by the Eisenerzer Alps in the east, from the Seckauer Alps in the south and the Rottenmanner Tauern in the west, on the old Salt Road from Selzthal to St. Michael on the Schober Pass, toll road to Mödlinger hut at the foot of Admonter rich stone, flit gorge with waterfall. Geology: The existing of archaic gneisses and granites Central Alps ( Rottenmanner Tauern ), which composed of Paleozoic Phylitten and limestones of the Silurian, Devonian and Carboniferous Eisenerzer Alps ( greywacke zone ), and the mighty masses of Triaskalke and dolomite in the rich stone Sparafeld group ( northern Limestone Alps ), form the versatile Gaishorner landscape.

History

Gaishorn, a Schwemmkegelsiedlung in Paltental with alpine pair and pile courts - first time mentioned in 1160 ( " Gaizzar " ) - was founded in 1960 raised to market and 1990 was renamed Gaishorn the lake.

Culture and sights

  • Parish Church of the Holy Trinity: ( to 1740 Most Holy Redeemer ), first documented mention in 1180, amid a walled cemetery. Late Gothic parish church with Baroque and Renaissance features. 1480 destroyed ( Turkish invasion ). New building by the Admonter Bauhütte ( Choir 1495 on ship Fronbogen dated 1520). The pin Admont incorporated. Restorations in 1898, 1952. Exterior renovation in 1907
  • Branch Church of St. Virgil, built in 1448, gothic, consecrated in 1465; destroyed in 1480 ( invasion of the Turks ), reconstruction until 1524. Chapel cultivation 1733. restorations in 1858, 1925, 1948
  • Evangelical Church. 1872 - 1880 dorm room with a facade featured tower.
  • Picture floor: with pagoda roof from the 18th century at the entrance
  • Place in the beautiful houses from the 18th century, especially the vicarage is worth mentioning.
  • In the municipality characteristic farms ( farms Ennstaler pile )
  • Called Griesmayrhof in the 12th century as Edelhof

Nature

  • Gaishorner See: special fauna and flora, sports facilities
  • The trail through the romantic Flit Gorge ( waterfalls, formerly starting point for hikes and mountain tours on the Admonter rich stone and Mödlinger hut) is forfeited and can not be committed.

Sports

After carried out in 2007 World Cup event in the Winter Triathlon, and the 2008 European Championships were conducted from 13 to 15 February 2009, the World Cup in winter triathlon in Gaishorn the lake instead.
