Gaius Caeionius Rufius Volusianus

Gaius Ceionius Rufius Volusianus ( * ca 246/249 ) was a Roman politician and praetorian prefect.

Volusianus was clarissimus vir. From 281/283 bis 289/291 he was, at first under Emperor Carinus, then under Diocletian, Corrector Italiae ( governor of Italy). Appointed by Emperor Maxentius to the proconsul of the province of Africa (? 305/306 ), he proposed - now appointed praetorian prefect - together with Zenas the usurpation of Domitius Alexander in Africa down ( 309/310 ). For this he was of Maxentius with the city prefecture of Rome ( 310-311 ) and the Consulate for the year 311 reward, which he held jointly with Aradius Rufinus.

After Maxentius was like 312 in the fight against his rival Constantine, Volusianus was temporarily deprived of all honor. Constantine, however, finally made it again to the city prefect ( 313-315 ) and consul (314). 321 He was also the second time praetorian prefect.

Volusianus was with Nummia Albina, daughter of Nummius Albinus (consul 263 ), married; his son was Ceionius Rufius Albinus (consul 335).
