Gaius Caesar

Gaius ( Julius ) Caesar ( 20 BC *, † 21 February 4 AD in Limyra, Lycia ) was the eldest son of Marcus Agrippa and the Vipsanius Iulia, the daughter of Augustus. In addition to his later also adopted by Augustus to secure the succession brother Lucius Caesar, he had three more siblings, the brother Agrippa Postumus and sisters Julia and Agrippina the Elder. Gaius Caesar was regarded as the designated successor of Augustus as a Roman emperor. Already in 17 BC, he and his younger brother Lucius of Augustus was adopted.
