Gaius Julius Quadratus Bassus

Gaius Julius Quadratus Bassus (c. 60 AD; † around 118 AD in Dacia ) was an ancient Roman politician and military leader of the late 1st and early 2nd century AD

The romanized Galatians of royal descent held initially chivalrous officer ranks and the Bursary before he was 76-78 governor of the province of Creta et Cyrene. After his return to Rome he was aedile and praetor in 82, 83 legate of legio XI Claudia. After participating in the Dakerkrieg Domitian he was about 90-92 governor of Judea. Under Trajan was Quadratus Bassus May-August 105 AD Suffektkonsul. When comes the emperor and legate he took part in the second Dakerkrieg Trajan. Then (about 107-112 ), he was governor of the province of Cappadocia et Galatia, then from Syria, from where he took part in the Parthian war of Trajan. 117/118, he assumed the governorship of Dacia, where he died. He was buried in Pergamon

Gaius Julius Bassus, consul in 139, was probably his son.
