Gaius Papirius Carbo (tribune 90 BC)

Gaius Papirius Carbo Arvina († 82 BC ) was a Roman politician at the beginning of the 1st century BC He was the son of the consul of the same name and a staunch representative of the aristocracy.

Carbo is mainly due to the lex Plautia Papiria known that ( BC or 89 ) he brought in Marcus Plautius Silvanus and as tribunes in 90 BC. This law gave Roman citizenship to all Italian allies, who at the time of entry into force was domiciled in Italy, provided he enlisted in person within sixty days to the praetor in Rome. The aim of the Act was to prevent the allies in case of war with Rome.

Like his father, Carbo an excellent speaker. He was killed by followers of Marius 82 BC.
