Gaius Silius

Gaius Silius Aulus Caecina Largus († 24) was a Roman politician and senator.

Silius was probably a son of Publius Silius Nerva, who had been in the year 20 BC Suffektkonsul. His wife was Sosia Galla. His son was Gaius Silius, Valeria Messalina, wife of Emperor Claudius married.

Silius was a close friend of Germanicus. In 13 Silius became a full consul. After that he was appointed in 14 Commander in Chief of the Upper Germanic army and received in the year 15 due to his success was such that there Triumphalinsignien. In the following years he operated seven years under the command of Germanicus successful in this area. It is not entirely clear what title he led there. Tacitus calls him moderator.
