Gaius Valarius Sabinus

Gaius Valarius Sabinus was the leading financial politician in the Roman Empire during the reign of Emperor Aurelian. After the revolt of Finance Felicissimus, provoked an uprising against Aurelian in the year 271 after the disclosure of his counterfeit coins, the Emperor commissioned Sabinus with the perception of the Roman finance. Sabinus worked from Ticinum, now Pavia, where the largest mint was Aurelian. He was responsible for 274 of Aurelian conducted monetary reform.
