Gal Koren

Gal Koren ( born January 16, 1992 Domžale, Slovenia ) is a Croatian- Slovenian ice hockey player, who plays for KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Austrian Erste Bank Hockey League to the position of the center since June 2011.

Career

Koren began at the age of four years with the hockey games and comes from the offspring of HDD Olimpija Ljubljana. As of 2007, played a native of Slovenia for a year at HC Mountfield České Budějovice in the Czech Republic, for which he was active in the U18 Extraliga. Subsequently, the striker moved in the fall of 2008 to the young eagles Mannheim, the junior team of the DEL - club Adler Mannheim. For the young eagles Koren ran in the German junior league and celebrated in both 2009 and 2010, winning the German junior championship.

After the center in the CHL Import Draft 2010 was selected in the second round to 64th place by the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League, he decided immediately to an exchange to Canada. The Rockets came to the attacker inserts 39 season, collecting four points scorer. In June 2011, Koren moved back to Europe and signed a contract with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb from Croatia, who is active with his teams in the Austrian Erste Bank Hockey League and the Croatian Hockey League.

Internationally

Koren played for Slovenia at the U18 World Junior Championships Division II 2009 and 2010. Moreover, he was active in the U20 Junior World Championship Division I in 2011 and the U20 World Youth Championship of IA 2012 Division for his country.

With the U18 selection his 2010 promotion to Division I when he made with Rok liver and Ziga Pešut by far the best forward line of the tournament in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. While Koren with 14 assists prepared the most goals, the best plus / minus statistics showed and was also nominated for best forward, his two teammates shared the title of the best striker and Topscorers. Koren reached as well as liver and Pešut 23 scorer points, but scored one goal less.
