Galeazzo II. Visconti

Galeazzo II Visconti (* 1320, † August 4, 1378 ) from the Visconti family was the second son of Stefano Visconti. In the division of the dominions of the family after the death of Cardinal Giovanni Visconti in 1354 he got Pavia.

Galeazzo was noble and handsome, promoter Francesco Petrarch, founder of the University of Pavia and a gifted diplomat. He was married on September 10, 1350 Bianca Maria of Savoy († December 31, 1387 ), the daughter of Count Aimone, and had two children with her:

  • Gian Galeazzo Visconti (1351-1402), his successor, the ( October 1, 1348 *, † September 11, 1379 ) Galeazzo II in June 1360 to Isabella of France, daughter of King John II of France (reigned 1350-1364 ) married, and
