Galgenen
The center
Galgenen is a municipality in the district of the canton of Schwyz March in Switzerland. To Galgenen also includes a part of the village Siebnen.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms is derived from the seal image of the church from the 19th century. Shown is the holy Martin Ross, the patron saint of the parish church Galgener, and a kneeling beggar.
Geography
Galgenen is between 1272 m and 430 m asl at the bottom Wägital. The Wägitaler Aa has formed here at the mouth of the valley towards Lake Zurich to a small river delta.

Economy
By exploiting the hydropower is settled here in the 19th century a small local industry, which is quite diversified. Furniture manufacturers, textile factory, metal products, window construction, mechanical workshops and other can be found here.
Traffic
Due to the motorway A3 motorway in Lachen SZ Galgenen is related to the agglomeration of Zurich.
History
1229 is Galgenen, then mentioned Galgennun 1275 as the site of the church of St. Martin. The origin of the name could not yet be clarified.
In the 14th century the woman Münster had some land in Galgenen in Zurich. 1405 came Galgenen the Canton of Schwyz.
