Galina Ustvolskaya
Galina Ivanovna Ustwolskaja (Russian Галина Ивановна Уствольская, scientific transliteration Galina Ivanovna Ustvol'skaja; born June 17, 1919 in Petrograd ( now St Petersburg), † 22 December, 2006 St. Petersburg ) was a Russian composer.
Life
Ustwolskaja studied from 1937 to 1947 with Shostakovich at the Conservatory in Leningrad, where they gave lessons in composition from 1948. It applies in addition to Sofia Gubaidulina as a significant composer of Russia in the 20th century.
