Galya-tető

The summit of Galya - tető, seen from Kékes from that juts out of the fog

The Galya - tető is a 964 meter high mountain in the Hungarian Mátra and after Kékes and the Pezső kő the third highest mountain in the country. It is located in Heves county on the northern edge of the small area Gyöngyös and is named after the village of Galyatető. The area around the Galya - tető is one of the few areas in Hungary with winter sports and therefore a popular tourist destination. In 1991, the Biathlon Junior World Championships were held there.
