Galym Orazbakov

Galym Isbassarowitsch Orasbakow (Russian Галым Избасарович Оразбаков; born September 1, 1964 in Almaty) is a Kazakhstani diplomat and since April 2012 Kazakh Ambassador to Russia. He is married and has three children.

Biography

Galym Isbassarowitsch Orasbakow was born on September 1, 1964 in Almaty. In 1986 he graduated from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute with specialization in mechanical engineering. From 1986 to 1993 he worked in various positions in the economy. Until 1994 Orasbakow was Head of Department and Deputy Director of the Office of the State Committee for pricing and competition policy. From October 1995 to October 1996, he was Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Then Orasbakow was Chairman of the Customs Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Finance. In 1997 and 1998 he was again appointed Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications. By 1999 he was managing director of the Kazakh national oil company Kazakhoil (now KazMunayGas ). From 2000 to 2001 he worked for the office of the Kazakh prime minister. Subsequently, he was from 2001 to 2003 Vice Minister of Trade and Industry.

Orasbakow first moved back into the economy back and held the post of the President of Kazakhstan Engineering national company before he became in 2007 Minister of Trade and Industry now.

Since 16 April 2008 he is the ambassador of Kazakhstan in Israel and since October 31, 2008 also Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus. On April 25, 2012 Orasbakow was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation by presidential decree.
