Gamagara Local Municipality

Gamagara is a municipality in the district of John Taolo Gaetsewe, Northern Cape Province in South Africa. In 2001, the population was 23,192 in a total area of 2,619 km ². The administrative center is Kathu.
The community name is a Setswana term for a dry river located there. This in turn is named after a man named Mogara.
