Gambia International Airlines

The Gambia International Airlines, often abbreviated as GIA, is a Gambian handling company with headquarters in Banjul. Between 2000 and 2005 she was the national airline of the State also. The property rights of the Company are to 99 percent for the Gambian government and to one percent in the Gambia Telecommunications Company, which in turn is owned by the state Gambia.

History

The airline was founded on 23 January 1996 and started with our ongoing operations on March 1, 1996. Society was first employed only as a ground handling company at the Banjul International Airport, but later expanded the business to the active flight service. In cooperation with Air Namibia had its first flight on December 1, 2000.

In 2005, the airline did not have its own aircraft and more focused on the passenger and cargo handled at the airport. 2007, the active flight service was then adjusted, as handling company, the company is still active.

Fleet

2004 flew the company with a Boeing 737-200 and a Boeing 737-800. These machines were abolished almost a year later. The Company then still used types of aircraft such as the Fokker F -28 and the Antonov An-22 for air cargo.
