Gamera - Guardian of the Universe (Japaneseガメラ 大 怪獣 空中 決戦, Gamera: Daikaiju Kuchu Kessen, dt " Gamera: Giant Monster - air decisive battle " ) is a Japanese film about the monster Gamera, who at the Fantasy Film Festival in 1995 his debut in Germany celebrated. The special thing about the film is that he is the first of the new Gamera series. The film uses the familiar stylistic elements of a classic kaiju film, like people in rubber suits and model buildings, but also relies on CGI and blue screen.

The film was released after the Fantasy Film Festival 1995 a few years later on VHS and DVD with German dubbing.

Action

The monster is here represented as a weapon of an ancient civilization that was created by genetic experiments. The Gyaos, man-eating pterosaurs, which are the enemies in the movie are also the product of the experiments of this civilization. Both Gamera and the Gyaos rested after the disappearance of this civilization a long time until the Gyaos wake end of the 20 century. You immediately begin to attack people discarding sometimes whole towns. When people try to get to grips with the threat and to catch the flying reptiles, Gamera shows up. The military sees him first as a greater threat and is making attempts to kill him, but finally emerged on a huge Super Gyaos, against which the military is absolutely powerless. In a long struggle and with the support of some people Gamera finally manages to destroy it.
