History

First written evidence of the village date from the year 1075 and call the place Gamanolvesdorf. Gammelsdorf is primarily known for the battle of Gammelsdorf on 9 November 1313. Ludwig the Bavarian defeated at that time in the battle for supremacy in the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation his cousin, Duke Frederick of Austria.

Gammelsdorf was in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818 an independent political community. The administrative community walls was founded on May 1, 1978.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1971, part of the dissolved municipality Reichersdorf was incorporated. On May 1, in 1978, parts of the dissolved municipalities Enghausen and Margaret Ried added.

Culture

Nationwide became famous for the mid- 1970s to the mid-1990s, the Live Club Circus because of his concerts. Originally operated as a cinema and café location was supposed to be the " world's first country - house cinema ". 1994 was the place of a victim to arson and could not be rebuilt. Every year in Gammelsdorf on Carnival Monday night a big carnival parade instead.
