Ganglionic blocker

Ganglionic blockers are also called Ganglioplegika and inhibit synaptic transmission in sympathetic and parasympathetic ganglia. The blockade is accomplished by:

  • Stabilization of the postsynaptic membrane ( tetraethylammonium )
  • By longer-term depolarization and subject to a stronger excitation ( nicotine)

Ganglion blockers are not often used because undifferentiated both legs of the autonomic nervous system are blocked. This leads to many side effects.

As ganglion blockade is defined as the interruption of the transmission of neural impulses from the autonomic nervous system by means of chemical substances.
