Ganter Brewery
The Ganter Brewery is a traditional brewery in Freiburg im Breisgau.
History
The brewery was founded in 1865 by Ludwig " Louis " Ganter in the house to child Jesus ( Schiffstraße 747.9971067.850277 ), had lived in the Erasmus of Rotterdam from 1531 to 1534. Ganter used a remaining small brewing equipment from the 18th century, which he had acquired along with 700 barrels. Until 1877, the beer of the thriving in the rapidly growing Freiburg brewery brewed in this house. Later it became the parent company of the brewery with a restaurant and brewery.
In 1877 finally acquired Ganter, with land in the Freiburg Oberau, the old oil mill to produce there by modern technical standard can. The area was at that time a "green field" outside the city. Due to the decline in annual beer consumption per person of 151 liters in 1976 to scarce 110 liters in 2009, enormous overcapacity in the German brewing industry and an associated price competition, the brewery decided in 2010 to reduce their own overcapacity.
In 2011, a new fermentation and storage cellar and a new cask was put into operation. The bottling is now operated by the Karlsruhe Moninger brewery. In the conversion, the brewery was careful to appoint 80 % of the craft services from the surrounding area. The energy costs were reduced by the measure by over 50%. As part of the " eco-city " Freiburg, the brewery also has solar panels on the roof and gets its raw materials as far as possible from the environment, partly from organic farming.
The warehouses, the brewhouse and the outdoor area of the brewery are also used for large events and celebrations.
